Been a few years now, but I was in a similar position at my first “real world” job and even though it took a little longer for me to leave than I would have liked (I was, at the time, the primary earner in the family, so quitting without a solid plan wasn’t doable) it was easily the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. It’s interesting to see how much the attitude re: your first job has changed over the years. I had co-workers at my old gig who have worked there for 25-30 years, but you’re totally right in saying that just is not the norm anymore.
