At 40 I’m only just now getting started getting serious about retirement. First we were broke (and on disability). Then I was making some but had no employer plan. And there were always too many expenses that I prioritized over retirement. Dumb, but there it is.

I still have 30 years of compound interest, give or take, which is something. I just have to make the most of it as best I can and settle for less in retirement. I hope more young people figure out, though, that the key is definitely investing as much as you can when you’re younger and enjoying the rewards of compound interest.
