I like the bus or train to the beach, personally. But I hate driving and the traffic in my area is intense. Pay a professional to navigate that while still enjoying the view? Yes, please!

Great perspective about the benefits of road trips. For me, music makes all the difference! I love loading up my phone with new music and making playlists for the car rides. Makes the time go much faster and much more enjoyable.

The older I get (now 29), the more I love road tripping! We did an 8 day roadtrip last month, down to Waterton for the long weekend, and into Montana (I haven't been since I was a small child), and it was fucking beautiful!!! I previously just wanted to jet off somewhere, but doing a road trip was smarter for us financially, and just better to be able to take in a lot of sights we have never seen before. My tips aren't anything special but here it goes: buy ice blocks (instead of bags of ice cubes) as it stays frozen longer in your cooler, load up on pre cut/packages salads/veggies (we did this in the US as it was hella cheap compared to Canada lol) which made it easier to eat healthier while camping, download Netflix movies to your ipad/iphone so you don't use data and can watch on your drive.

We love love love road trips and we love being in the car with each other. Our first was a trip out to the US east coast back in 2009 (we're old). Second best trip besides our honeymoon in Germany, where we took the train a lot - so like a fancy road trip in first class going 200kms/hour.

Next year with an 11 month old(!!) we are going to fly into YYC and head west in a car. I can't tell you how much we are looking forward to it.
