I’m not a mom, but I can absolutely appreciate not tying your identity to a specific part of your life (whether that’s having a baby, or getting a massive promotion). I have a lot of people in my life who have always wanted to be moms and can’t wait for it to happen for them. I think that’s awesome that they’re so sure of what they want. At the same time, I wonder what will happen to their identities if being ‘Mom’ isn’t exactly what they’ve pictured and imagined.
Do you think your ability to cultivate an identity other than Mom is easier/different for you because being a Mom wasn’t something you planned for for a long time?
