Verrrrrrrrry true: "I read some personal finance blogs and I feel the writer is a little disconnected with how society at large approaches money." I think you need to have a healthy mix and a good understanding of every person's perspective in order for them to relate to your writing style.

I'm probably lucky that most of my friends are very well off. They are not penny pinchers, but they definitely earn more than they spend. I don't consider money to be the most important thing in my life, however having plenty of money gives you many opportunities.

Haven’t ended a friendship over it, but I’ve had to put boundaries with some for sure. I’m lucky enough to have a couple real life friends that are all about money, but the online friendships I’ve made since I started blogging have been seriously awesome.

I often think about the whole "you are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with" thing. When I was working my overseas teaching job, nobody was serious about their money. We were in our early twenties, a few hours away from beaches, and close to the universal party street of backpackers (Khao San Road!). I did notice that as time went on, my motivations started slipping and I started being more careless with my money like those around me. It's one of the reasons why I moved on from the job and environment.

Although, I do appreciate the experience because it gave me a lot of ideas for blog content! Often times, I read some personal finance blogs and I feel the writer is a little disconnected with how society at large approaches money (since they're always around people who love money just as much as them). It was great to be surrounded by people that were still trying to understand money because it helped me see what to write more about.

Desperate to meet people with a similar money mindset. I know two. But one doesn't exactly walk the talk. The other is, well... quite unique haha.

Hoping to meet more like-minded people soon. But I'm starting to think they only exist on the internet.
