Oh gosh, of course! That is a great point too. It’s really about where you’re at in your life financially and emotionally. Then you can more easily make a decision.

Totally understand where you’re coming from! It’s all about research 100%

I could not agree more. I really like that fee-based financial planners are becoming more of a thing in Canada, although you still really have to do your homework because some fee-based planner ARE still partnered with a larger financial organization. But if you need to go the route of having a financial advisor, I think fee-based is the way to go (although like others, I am in no financial position to need one right now 🙂

I’m a firm believer it’s a broken system. They’re paid on commission and rarely have your best interests in mind. Their products ARE however better than doing nothing, there’s just better out there for you if you’re willing to look and research.

I currently use Wealthsimple and I`m a huge fan because: low cost, no minimum to start, understand our generation. But there are obviously other options.
This MoneySense infographic comparing a few is awesome if you need more information: http://www.moneysense.ca/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/Screen-Shot-2016-05-18-at-9.46.05-AM-e1463579224792.png

That is always an option too. I am in the same boat. Right now I do not have an obscene amount of money to manage, so I am capable of making the best decisions for myself. Good point, as always 🙂

I really love the idea of that. But it seems like there are so many out there.

I have no dependents and am capable of research. I also don’t need a “perfect” solution; fine is good enough with me.
